These terms of purchase apply to all purchases made via the website sadelmakarn.com, operated by Saddler Anne Alander.

By completing a purchase, you accept these terms. We reserve the right to update the terms, and the latest version is always available on this page.

Prices

All prices on the website are stated in Swedish kronor (SEK) including VAT, except for used saddles that are VAT free. I reserve the right for price changes, printing errors and sold out items. The price that applies is the one shown at the time of your order.

Payment

I offer payment by card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via my payment provider Stripe. Payment is secure and encrypted — I never store your card details.

The amount is reserved on your card when ordering and charged when the order is confirmed.

Shipping and delivery

  • Free shipping for orders over 2,000 SEK, except for saddles for which the shipping is 300 SEK.

  • Standard shipping: 99 SEK for orders under 2,000 SEK.

  • Delivery time for items in stock: 3-5 business days after confirmed order.

I will send a confirmation by email when your order has been shipped. In case of delays, I will contact you. Delivery is made to the address you provide when ordering.

Rental of Demo Saddle

Demo saddles can be rented for a maximum of one week at a cost of SEK 500 per saddle. This is primarily offered in preparation for a potential order, allowing you and your horse to calmly assess whether this is the type of saddle you would like. Please note that there is no obligation to purchase; however, the rental cost will be deducted if you place an order in connection with the rental.

Please ride in the demo saddle with care. Do not ride outdoors in unsuitable weather, use a clean saddle pad, and fasten the stirrup leathers under the flap. Take care not to scratch the flap with zippers or similar. The rental price is set to cover the depreciation resulting from one week of riding but does not cover abnormal wear, stains, or damage. If the saddle is returned in a more used condition than what is considered reasonable, I reserve the right to charge you for additional depreciation.

The saddle must be returned cleaned, but not greased or oiled.

Right of withdrawal

According to the Distance Sales Act, as a consumer you have 14 days right of withdrawal from the day you receive the goods. The right of withdrawal applies provided that:

  • The item is in undamaged and unused condition*.

  • The item is returned in its original packaging with all accessories.

  • You notify me of the withdrawal within 14 days by email to anne@sadelmakarn.com

You have an additional 14 days to return the item after notifying me. Refund will be made within 14 days after I have received the returned item.

Exception: The right of withdrawal does not apply to items that have been manufactured or customized to your specifications, e.g. custom-ordered saddle accessories with engraving or monogram. It does also not apply to services already done, e.g. saddle fittings, re-flockings or trips.

You are allowed to try your saddle with care but it shall be returned in the same condition as it was in at the time of purchase. For new saddles, this means that they must be returned in such condition that they can be sold as unused, without any signs of use.

Complaints

According to the Consumer Purchase Act, you have the right to complain about a product within three (3) years of purchase if it is defective. You should complain within a reasonable time after discovering the defect.

For complaints, contact me at anne@sadelmakarn.com with your order number and a description of the defect, preferably with photos. I primarily offer repair or replacement, secondly price reduction or refund.

Please note that natural wear is not a cause for complaints. This includes color variations or markings naturally occurring in the leather or flocking that has set after an expected time period. For saddles with new flocking this time period is about 40-60 riding hours, after which it is normal to having to add more flocking. If the flocking has set more than expected this has to be addressed before the 40 hour mark.

I reserve the right to reject a complaint if the product is not defective or if the defect has arisen as a result of improper use.

Returns

For returns within the right of withdrawal, you as a customer are responsible for the return cost unless otherwise agreed. Returned items must be unused and in original packaging. I welcome you to contact me to get guidance about the proper way to pack your item.

For complaints about items that have been confirmed as defective, I cover the return cost. Always contact me before returning an item.

The return address can be found at the beginning of these Terms of purchase. If you do not want to ship the item(s) you are very welcome to drop it/them off at my store at the location above.


Special terms of purchase for custom-made saddles (Kentaur)

In some cases, Kentaur saddles are exempt from the right of withdrawal. This applies to saddles that have been custom-made with a personal specification, such as modifications to fit and/or choice of color and/or materials. Saddles made according to standard models and standard options are covered by the Distance Selling Act and are sold with a 14-day right of withdrawal, provided that the saddle is returned in unused condition.

Special terms of purchase for custom-made saddles (Peerless)

Payment Terms
Payment for your custom-made saddle from Peerless is made in 2 steps. A deposit of 10,000 SEK is paid at the time of ordering. The remaining balance—covering the final saddle price, mileage compensation for delivery, and the order processing fee—is paid or invoiced at delivery. See below for payment methods.

You will always receive an estimated total price before confirming your order. I reserve the right to adjust prices if circumstances beyond my control arise, such as changes in the exchange rate between GBP and SEK.

Payment Methods
You can choose between the following payment options:

  • Webshop (card payment or Klarna)

  • Invoice (14-day payment terms)

Payment via webshop
If you choose to pay via the webshop, you will purchase the item “Deposit for Peerless” when placing your order, following the instructions provided. Once your payment has gone through, I will place your order with the manufacturer.

At delivery, your saddle will be added to the webshop as a product. The price will include mileage compensation, with your deposit already deducted. You simply complete the purchase when I deliver the saddle.

Klarna installment options may be available for both payments, depending on your credit approval. Please make sure you have sufficient credit available. If the final payment cannot be completed via the webshop, I will instead send you an invoice.

Payment via invoice
If you prefer to pay by invoice, I will send you an invoice for the 10,000 SEK deposit when you place your order. Once it is paid, I will forward your order to the manufacturer.

When I deliver your saddle, I will send a final invoice for the remaining amount, including mileage compensation. The payment term is 14 days.

If your payment is overdue, I will send a reminder and add a reminder fee of 60 SEK. If the payment is still not received, the case will be forwarded to a debt collection agency.

Order processing fee
The total price includes a fee of 1,500 SEK for the ordering process. This covers the design consultation, the digital sketch and the summary of your order.

If you choose to cancel your order this fee will still apply. If you have already paid the deposit of 10,000 SEK you will be refunded, minus the 1,500 SEK. This also applies if you choose to cancel your order after production has begun. See below for more information.

Right of withdrawal and changes
Once production of your saddle has begun, the right of withdrawal no longer applies.

During the design meeting you are free to make as many changes as you wish and you are allowed to change your design 5 times while the sketch is being made (i.e. I will make up to 5 new sketches). Modifications of the same design can be made unlimited times until it feels right.

During the manufacturing process, any changes must be requested as soon as possible. In some cases they can still be made, although additional costs may apply if this leads to additional work for the manufacturer.

If you decide to cancel your order after production has started, the process will be stopped and you will be invoiced for the work completed up to that point. The paid deposit will be used to cover costs to the extent that it is sufficient. Any remaining portion of the deposit will be refunded. If the deposit does not cover all costs, you will be charged for the additional expenses.

The charge will be issued by invoice with 14 days’ payment terms, and any refund will be made via bank transfer to the account used for the original payment.


Force majeure

I am not responsible for delayed or failed delivery due to circumstances beyond my control, such as natural disasters, war, pandemic, strike, fire or government decisions.

Limitation of Liability

  • I accept no liability for indirect damages that may arise as a result of products purchased from me.

  • I accept no liability for any changes to products or product characteristics made by suppliers, or due to other factors beyond my control.

  • I do not guarantee that images on the website accurately reflect the exact color or appearance of the products, as color settings may vary between screens.

  • I accept no liability if a saddle purchased from me no longer fits due to changes in the body shape of the horse or rider in connection with or after the saddle has begun to be used.

  • I accept no liability if a saddle that has been purchased from me, without a proper fitting, does not fit the horse or rider.

Disputes and applicable law

Swedish law applies to all purchases. I always strive to resolve any disputes directly with the customer. If we cannot agree, you can contact the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).
